Job Title:  Feed Mill Technician/Driver
Division:  Kalmbach Feeds of Indiana
Reports to:  Kalmbach Feeds of Indiana Operations Manager 
This position offers full time employment with benefits including full medical, dental, vision and life insurance as well as 401K. Starting salary range is $14.00-$15.00 per hour depending upon experience and qualifications. Seasonal overtime should be expected.
Summary:Responsible for the manufacture of customer feed orders and Kalmbach feed inventories.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Supports Harvest Land Co-op’s stated Vision, Mission, and Business Values.
  • Projects a positive attitude to customers and employees at all times.
  • Provides outstanding and courteous customer service.
  • Continuously follows the safety guidelines and safety programs established by the Harvest Land Co-op.
  • Assists customers with their needs and works to maintain customers’ positive impressions of the mill.
  • Responsible for feed mill production and processing including preparation of food according to the ration that has been provided.
  • Ensures that all ingredients in the feed meet expectations and are free of contamination.  
  • Works efficiently ensuring that trucks are loaded as soon as possible, and remaining inventory is properly managed to expedite loading/delivery of product for future deliveries.
  • Assists in maintaining feed and ingredient inventory and stocking.
  • Aids in mill maintenance.
  • Informs manager of all concerns including those regarding operations, equipment, product or customer relations as soon as issue arises.
  • Continuously maintains mill and warehouse to ensure that they are always kept in a clean, attractive and safe condition.
  • Assists with unloading grain and cleaning of the grain elevator ensuring that spilled grain and feed is swept up daily.
  • Manages inventory of bulk ingredients, bagged ingredients and floor stock feed.
  • Assists when requested in the timely delivery of feed to the customers’ storage units.
  • Obtains the ability to communicate and solve differences of opinion with the customers.
  • Drives in a safe manner.
  • Additional duties that may be required.
Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience: Qualified candidates must possess a high school diploma or general education degree (GED); and one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
Language Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and                           interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished                           in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Preferred candidates should possess (or have the ability to obtain) and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License with all necessary endorsements.A valid Driver’s License is required. Candidates will need a good driving record, clear criminal background check and the ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
